Story Outline 

Nirmala (played by Nargis) is in cherish with Counselor Rajindra Singh (played by Pradeep Kumar) and they have plans to induce hitched before long. But Nirmala's close relative is desirous to see her joy and subsequently needs to wed her off to an uneducated villager. The debate turns huge and Nirmala clears out her domestic. She takes a work in a moving school, which turns out to be a front for a brothel. This lands her in jail, but she isn't found blameworthy. When she returns domestic, she is turned absent, and knowing approximately her stuns and murders her mom. Again out on the boulevards, she endeavors to discover work. Pandit Kedarnath (played by Pran), a pimp, is presently taking after her in arrange to induce her for himself. But coincidentally, she meets Rajindra once more. The partners get hitched subtly. But at that point Rajindra clears out for Britain, taking off behind pregnant Nirmala. Rajindra's guardians do not acknowledge Nirmala and her child and toss her out. Nirmala gives birth to a child boy. Her conditions decline and she isn't able to gain her living.
